Kitchen remodeling leads to health problems.
Posted on October 16, 2007
I was in the process of a kitchen remodeling job. In order to save some money, I was doing the job myself. I began to experience respiratory problems during the job. Because I was spending so much time remodeling and still working my regular day job, I thought I was simply run down and catching a cold. Symptoms became worse. I went to my family doctor and got a prescription for antibiotics. The pills didn’t seem to help. I wanted to finish the job before our Thanksgiving dinner, as we were expecting a housefull of guests. I hired a contractor to finish the job. The contractor informed me that something was definitely wrong. He had detected asbetos in the ceiling and walls. The substance was removed and I recovered from my illness. Remodeling our kitchen may have saved our lives.
